The Jeep Wrangler has a long history of topless, door-less, and even windshield-less driving. In 2018, a new generation of Wrangler—the JL—arrives, toting improved removal systems for the roof, doors, and windshield, plus some improved tech, and a new engine.

Gone are the frustrating zippers of the previous-generation Wrangler’s removable soft top. Now, a system of rubber rails make attaching and detaching the roof and rear quarter panels a less-stressful affair. The Freedom hardtop returns as well, and a new, powered retractable soft top will soon be available. And of course, you can still remove the doors and fold down the windshield for a true open-air driving experience.

Under the hood, you can still have the standard V6 engine, good for 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, and available with either a standard 6-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed automatic. Or you can opt for a new turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, paired with Jeep’s eTorque hybrid system. And inside the cabin, you’ll get either a 5-, 7-, or 8.4-inch touchscreen—the latter two can operate Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Naturally, the Wrangler is still a champion off-road; it just wouldn’t be a Wrangler if it wasn’t. For more information on the rock-crawler’s capabilities, read Cliff’s full review on CarGurus.com: https://cargur.us/pcCmT
