ABOUT:
Right now, the boldest and most exclusive Nissan GT-R you could ever dream of owning is the GT-R50 by Italdesign, which will go on a short production run of just 50 units, each priced at a little over $1 million. While pretty spectacular, it still doesn’t bring us in any way closer to knowing what Nissan is planning to do about their next-generation GT-R, which will likely be code-named the R36. However, what if we took the GT-R50 and sprinkled in some 2020 Vision Gran Turismo Concept bits? Thankfully we don’t need to play that “what if” game with ourselves, because designer Enoch Gonzales has already taken the liberty of crafting such a car digitally. While the design of the car is certainly more modern than what we see on the current GT-R, there’s also something slightly off about it and we think it’s the size. The render just doesn’t look sufficiently aggressive, as you could argue that it’s not low enough and perhaps not wide enough either. In reality, Nissan can’t afford to get the next-gen GT-R wrong in any way. This car is such a cultural icon, it’s basically on par with the likes of the Mustang, only cooler and (a whole lot more) expensive. Nissan has been manufacturing the GT-R/Skyline for decades, a period in which the model line evolved from a four-cylinder sedan to a turbocharged supercar. The next step in its evolution is bound to be something spectacular and its exterior design will probably reflect the generational shift. That being said, there are a few elements we like on this rendering, such as the headlight and taillight design, the headlight graphics and the overall look of the rear pillar.
